Tweenies

About this collection

The Panini sticker collection for the BBC pre-school series Tweenies contains 168 stickers featuring Bella, Milo, Fizz, Jake and the dog Doodles. The show started on British children's television in September 1999, ran to 390 episodes by 2002 and won the 2000 BAFTA for best pre-school series. The 2001 album is built like an episode. The Tweenies section frames it, numbers 1 to 5 at the front and 146 to 150 at the back. In between, Bella, Milo, Fizz, Jake and Doodles each get ten stickers of their own, before The Tweenies shows the group in seventeen scenes. From number 73 the Tweenie Clock takes over, the clock that decides in the show what happens next. Its segments give the remaining chapters their names: Song Time, Telly Time, Messy Time, Story Time, News Time, Surprise Time and Play Time, nine stickers each. Collector's note: 36 of the 168 stickers are glittery. Eighteen of them sit in the album itself, one each with Bella, Milo, Fizz, Jake, Doodles and the Tweenie Clock, plus four with The Tweenies and four each on the opening and closing pages. The other eighteen make up the poster row: they are the only ones without numbers, carrying the letters A to R instead, and they are drawn rather than photographed. Without those eighteen letters the album stays incomplete.
